The Ten Most Profitable MMOGs

Hi Guys i just want to share this to you i found this in the gamerce site try to read it out this is about the 10 most profitable MMOG’s.

No big surprise: World of Warcraft takes the top spot. As for some of the other entries on this list, you may have never even heard of them. That is, unless you’re six years old.

wow

According to a report by analysts Screen Digest, MMOGs are still big money, and World of Warcraft is sitting at the top of the cash pile. In 2008, the MMOG market in Europe and North America grew by 22% and is estimated to keep on keeping on as gamers attempt to satisfy their unquenchable desire for phat lewts and tedious grinding

While WoW’s dominance is no surprise here, Screen Digest’s findings for the rest of the MMOG market revealed a number of surprising results. When gauging the most popular MMOGs, the analysts used revenue made from subscription fees as opposed to the commonly cited player/subscriber population numbers. So, even though most of us would imagine games like EverQuest II and Age of Conan as virtual ghost towns, apparently they’re still turning enough of a profit to make it into the top ten most money making MMOGs.

Scientists discover: Playing computer games during work makes you more productive

What everyone of us allready knew was now prooved by german scientists from Hamburg University:

Playing computer games during work makes employees more concentrated and

increases their productivity.
Employees who had the chance to play online computer games like Wow, Warhammer, Dofus, Everquest2 and Atlantica online after some time of boring and monotone work ranked much higher in a following intelligence test than those who had no chance to play games before the test

This study proves the usefulness of online games and encourages others to start playing computer games as well during work.

In game Relationship!

I recently bumped into an article which discusses in-game relationships and somehow could relate to it.  I have my own share of experience in meeting SO in-game.  In fact, I think I had five or six  lol.   But honestly, it all started of as in-game buddies then  I didn’t realize that the relationship would continue even if I am disconnected from the game server.

Well here are some excerpts from the article:

At the core of playing any Massive Multi Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) is the inescapable element of human drama.  Whether you’re playing in a galaxy far far away, or in a city of heroes, you are bound to come up against the same pathos of your everyday real life (RL) existence.  One area in particular, that of romance, emerges as a regular if not given element in online game play.  There are several dynamics in the MMORPG romance, and they are all in some way or another dictated by the personal dynamics of those behind the keyboard.

 In-game wedding

The husband and wife who play together stay together?

There are many husband and wives who play MMORGPS together.  Some play the same game but choose to create toons on different servers.  Although they are married in the RL they lead very separate lives in game play.  This separation can often lead each spouse to an in-game romance with other people.  A curious offshoot of this is the husband and wife who play together, on the same server, many times in the same Player Association (PA) a group of players who play together as a group) and still choose to romance others.  Their motives can be for fun, the thrill of safe relations outside of the primary relationship, or a genuine sense of role-playing not connecting what goes on from between being Out of Character (OOC) or In Character (IC).  More expected, though, is the RL couple who also pairs off in the game.

The most common snag of a potential romance in an MMORPG is having a person who is paired off in the RL, but whose partner does not play.  Where does the line between the RL and role-play get drawn, and how does the player keep his or her partner from feeling jealous or concerned about the in-game romance?  Again it is the dynamics behind the keyboard that will determine how this situation would play out.  A jealous partner would probably not be supportive or condone any type of in-game romance role-playing, whereas another type of partner may have no concerns whatsoever.  To quote the spouse of a gamer friend of mine?  Honey, if you left me for someone you met playing Star Wars Galaxies then it was probably my fault?

Top 10 worst things than can happen to an MMORPG Player

Hey guys i just want to share this one

Enjoy reading :D

10. The server is not responding.  Please try again later.

9. Patch Day.

8. Remember that real life friend you begged your long time guild to let in?  He just ripped off two guildies, ninja looted the big raid and sold half of the guild bank on the auction house.

7. Your guild finally gets a voice chat server.  You realize after 4 years of playing with them, you can’t stand these people.

6. We’re sorry, but this account has been suspended for violating the terms of service.

5. You just found out that the game you built a website for and you’ve been following religiously for the past 5 years was silently produced by a collaborative effort between Brad McQuaid and Lord British.

4. After losing your job, divorcing your spouse and having your kids taken away by youth services for the amount of time you spend in your MMORPG, they release an expansion that makes it all worthless.

3. Your company is losing money and ready to close the doors, luckily the company was just purchased by SOE for pennies on the dollar and you might get to keep your job.

2. You login to your MMORPG account and your guild bank has been cleared, your guild has been disbanded and your character was deleted.  While on hold with customer service trying to undo the apparent hacking of your account, your spouse walks into the room to tell you he/she is filing for a divorce.

1. The chick you’ve been cybering for the past 2 years has finally asked for a real life meeting and you brag about it to all your guild mates.  When you arrive at the restaurant, an overweight and bearded man named Bob says "Hi, I’m Electra".

Gamers Are More Accepting Of Same-Sex Marriage?

Topics have been popping up across the broad range of gaming sites that convey importance, meaning and food-for-thought rationalizations that ? dare I say ? even important political minds seem to forego. So what topic is rearing its head up and over the hedges, today? Same-sex marriage in video games. Kev J. from Electronic Theatre openly discusses how games and political issues are not entirely exclusive of one another and that important issues troubling the socio-economic atmosphere has already been breached by video games. In fact, Aeria Games has recently announced that same-sex marriage is applicable in Dream of Mirror Online, the MMORPG. Does this mean that if gamers ran the world same-sex marriage would have been approved ages ago? Well, I wouldn’t jump to that conclusion. Anyway, Electronic Theatre breaks down the difference in the evolution of gamer mentality versus real life sociological politics. The article is an interesting read, to say the least and something that could possibly warrant a poll here at Blend Games…but maybe some other time.
